Brewtal Box #031 / SEPTEMBER 2020 - CASTELLÓ BEER FACTORY
For a long time we had our eye on this 'brewery' from Castelló and we had been talking with them about including a complete lineup this summer. Well, it is a fact, there we send it to our subscribers, fresh direct from the factory! (see more)

Castelló Beer Factory (CBF) was born in 2016 as a result of the passion of a group of friends for beer (Víctor, Antonio and Xuso), who after years making it at home, decided to launch into the commercial brewing adventure. They describe themselves as restless, rebellious, and non-conformist and their philosophy from the beginning has been to create original beers, without additives and respecting the product they make. They make the beers they like, and what they have left over, they sell!
“We like beers with soul and flavor, made with care. We shy away from bland and boring beers with the aim of promoting authentic beer culture and offering alternatives for restless brewers. ”
The name CBF arises from the idea of embodying the name of its city on the factory: “We love living on the shores of the Mediterranean, enjoying the good weather, going out with friends and drinking good beer. Why not put it on our behalf? “
Being a small brewery, the process is completely handmade, and they always respect the times that beer demands and needs, creating current and groundbreaking beers, light years from those produced on a large scale. They do not filter, they do not pasteurize. They do not use clarifiers, accelerators, foaming agents or other chemical products. They respect the traditional process, adapting it to new technologies. Its concoctions are essentially a living product that continues to evolve in its packaging, which is kept cold even in the hands of the consumer.

Beer: OAT MILKY WAY
Style: TDH NEIPA
This gem brewed in collaboration between CBF and Cervesa Espiga (Catalonia) is a Triple Dry-Hopped New England IPA brewed with barley, wheat and oat malts and a wild amount of oat drink . What makes this birrote so special is the brutal amount of Mosaic, Simcoe and Cryo Simcoe hops that were added to it. Its label is an image of the Milky Way and refers to the amount of lactose it contains. On the nose it is a total delirium due to the aromas of citrus and stone fruit given off by the hops. On the palate it is quite refreshing, silky and full-bodied, slightly bitter and without scratching at all. A full-fledged “brewtal” beer!

Beer: GREENWICH MERIDIAN
Style: Apple Kiwi Sour Ale
Castelló de la Plana is a small city located next to the Mediterranean Sea and it is right there that Meridano de Greenwich intersects with Parallel 40. The guys from Castelló Beer Factory seem to have been inspired by this to give their name to Greenwich Meridian, a very refreshing and easy-to-drink sour ale made with kiwi, green apple and additions of good amounts of oats and wheat, which gives it a texture soft without losing the acid point of the fruits and the Lactobacillus. Take advantage of drinking it in these last hot days of summer!
ABV: 5.5%

Beer: FALSE FLAG
Style: New England IPL
New England India Pale Lager (IPL), which is essentially a rather fruity and highly hopped Lager, is not a style we are used to seeing in Spain, but the CBF brewers wanted to make their own version of this innovative style, also at a time of the year that is coming like a glove because it is a very refreshing and easy to drink beer. False Flag is loaded with Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Cryo Simcoe hops bathed in a soup of barley, wheat and oat malts, all fermented with Diamond yeast.
ABV: 5.4%
IBU: 30

Beer: JANO HOP
Style: New England IPA
Winner of a gold medal in the New England IPAs category of the Barcelona Beer Challenge 2019 (a hotly contested category where 80 beers competed!), Jano Hop is a very dense shake of tropical hops and very aromatic citrus (Mosaic and Citra) with the velvety smoothness of oats. With a medium bitterness and a 'hazy' appearance, this jewel is an ode to beer, a poem to life. Here's to you, Jano!
ABV: 4.2%
