Brewtal Box #044 / OCT 2021 - MITIKA BREWERY

MITIKA

MITIKA was born in Iruña (Navarra) in 2013 among friends and beers out of curiosity to know a world that they are passionate about, and that, in turn, has been so mistreated by the big industry in pursuit of from mere profit. Its objective has always been to fill the bars, squares and parties with good beer. They started out as nomadic brewers, but then in 2015 they founded a cooperative of craft beer makers together with 4 other brands, acquiring the factory where they previously produced as nomads. This has given them more possibilities and means to carry out their dream of being present in more places in Spain. Since then they have been expanding their catalog of beers trying not to fall into the maelstrom of the market and having as maxims the quality of the product and respect for the brewing tradition.

Beer: MIKOLASAK

Style: Oat Cream IPA

Mikolasak is Mitika's first experience with Cream IPAs, a world unknown until now, so they don't want to risk it. They jumped into the pool knowing that there is water. With a base of Golden Promise barley and a bestiality of oats in all its forms, they have achieved a creamy, orange and dense beer to end up seasoning it with 21g/litre of the incombustible Mosaic and the well-known and priceless Galaxy. That is, blueberries, papaya, tangerine with passion fruit, peach and lime. Anyone would say it's a fruit salad, but no, it's a birrote, although you can also have it for dessert!

Beer: SWALLOWRU

Style: Hazy IPA

Traganarru is a very cloudy beer in which the master brewers of Mitika have used the well-known Simcoe and Citra hops and have combined them with El Dorado, giving this flavor of peach, pear, cherry ... to the already fruity mix. In essence, we are faced with a new juice, silky on the palate that combines citrus and tropical notes with a subtle bitterness.

Beer: AIDEKO

Style: Hazy IPA

The series of Hazy IPAs that Mitika has launched this year have loved their brewmasters, and no doubt their entire audience has too. Always continuously experimenting and searching for the perfect malt bases, this time they have decided to give it a little extra hop punch with three of their favorites: Mosaic, Azacca and El Dorado. The latter used for the first time with Traganarru, they freaked out and that's why he repeats in the lineup. Its hints of jelly beans, cherry and melon add perfectly to the mix, already fruity in nature, where the mango from Azacca hops stands out a lot. Like Traganarru, Aideko is also a hop juice, but with a lower alcohol content. It is silky on the palate and combines tropical notes with a marked bitterness. To drink by the liter!

Beer: MAMARRO

Style: Hazy Double IPA

MAMARRO is the second cloudy, powerful and dangerously light double IPA from Mitika. It is loaded with Citra, Ekuanot and Cryo Idaho hops and after applying a "double dry-hopping" they have been able to obtain an aromatic and tasty beer that perfectly hides the alcoholic toll.
