Brewtal Box #8

SUMMER IS NOT YET OVER!

We refuse to accept that summer is over!

October comes with some Pale Ales loaded with hops and easy to drink, as for those of us who still want to drink a good artisan outdoors.

To share with someone or just to enjoy more, the 440ml cans of Lost + Found Brewery come with some incredible designs. And to continue promoting the local movement, this month we bring you Gross Beer, a brewery from the north of Spain that is causing a lot to talk about.

Do you know what a session beer is? They are beers with a low alcohol level, no more than 5%, with a good balance of malts and hops that make them quite drinkable.

This type of beer originates in England around the time of the First World War, a time during which the government established periods of time (sessions) for workers to drink alcohol. But so that the British could quench their thirst without getting drunk, these low-alcohol beers were created, which are now so popular during the cooler months or when we want to enjoy a good artisan session

GROSS BEER (dit comes from San Sebastián, No Hops No Hope!)

this brewery, which has also played with the name and has put an S at the end to stay with Gross, which translated from English means disgusting. A provocative language, which has opened palates since 2013, simply using water, barley, hops and yeast to create live beers, without filtering or pasteurizing.

Did you know that there are approximately 400 breweries in the country? Almost all of them are concentrated in Catalonia thanks to the impact that the master Steve Huxley had in the region. At Brewtal we will continue to bring local beer so you can taste what it is doing in Spain!

Sarri Sarri

Style: Session IPA

What does not have alcohol, brings it in hops, this beer that is also low bitterness, uses 3 types of American hops: Citra, Amarillo and Ekuanot, which give the beer a very citric, grapefruit aroma and tropical fruits. As a curious fact, the Yellow hops that are so used in Pale Ales, were found wild in the state of Washington in 1998.

Alcohol: 3%. Bitterness: 25 IBU

Sticky Hops

Style: West Coast IPA

Usually in IPAs, the trick is to find the balance between malt and hops, however, in this West Coast style the hops are the star. This style is very focused on aroma and many breweries believe that the more hops the better! What do you think of this IPA that comes with a lot of Mosaic and Citra?

Alcohol: 6.8%. Bitterness: 85 IBU

LOST + FOUND BREWERY

As its founders say, Lost + Found produces modern and vibrant beers, crafted in Sussex, using the best ingredients, evolving and always in line with the seasons.

Their commercial beers / releases, which are coded (R#'s) are the result of many tests they do in their pilot plant. Once they reach the desired result, the beer is produced in their 15BBL plant and presented to the public.

Hold it Down

Style: Session Pale Ale

A dry beer that uses only Maris Otter malt and wheat in its recipe, in addition to Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops, which provide a strong tropical flavor. It is recommended to take it at 8C to better feel its aromas.

Alcohol: 4.6%. Bitterness: 35 IBU

Fomosaic

Style: APA

Ekuanot, Simcoe and Mosaic fill this beer with tropical aromas. Maris Otter and Crystal 30 malts provide a very robust profile that helps balance the fruit character of the hops used.

It is also recommended to take it at 8C.

Alcohol: 5.2%. Bitterness: 38 IBU
