Brewtal Box #041 / JUL 2021 - GARAGE BEER CO & INCIVIC BREW

Two beer projects that together make this Brewtal Box a real summer bomb. On the one hand, the acclaimed Garage Beer Co from Barcelona (now about to open a bar in front of Barcelona's Mediterranean Sea), whose trajectory of powerful beers is internationally known, never ceases to amaze us with each batch they make and now gives opportunity to many of Try these elixirs in a new 33cl can format. On the other hand Incivic Brew, the newest and rogue project of the craft scene in our country, and the continuation of the famous Two Tanks project. With an interesting image, new recipes and "very bad" intentions. Their slogan “craft & riots” shows an irreverence that is willing to shut our mouths and make us brains with the new proposals that they will bring to the market. There is finally another light on the horizon, Fresh or Destroy!

GARAGE BEER CO

Beer: EVERYTHING ON MUTE

Style: Modern Pale Ale

The Garage hadn't brewed a Pale Ale in a while and it was clearly time to make their own version of a modern Pale Ale. What is the difference with a Session IPA? In times of soft and "juicy" beers, the difference is in the balance. The beans are packed with protein and dextrins to give it that smooth body, but to give it a sweet touch and they put a delicate charge of Caramalt on it. Regarding aroma and flavor, this plays quite well with the super fruity formula of Citra, Idaho-7 and Azacca hops, giving us notes of peach, pineapple, citrus and fresh cut grass. The extra touch of caramel also leaves a little bitterness in the mouth to balance it out and create EVERYTHING ON MUTE: a modern, robust but very “paintable” Pale Ale.

ABV: 4.8%

Beer: SANTAKO

Style: West Coast IPA

Designed with your drinkability in mind, and as if this were not enough, “gluten free”!

The Santako is based on one of their latest WCIPAs, Plasticity. Garage replaces the Cascade hop dry-hop with Amarillo hops to increase the citrus character. Combined with Citra, Simcoe and Columbus hops its aroma immediately introduces loads of marijuana, pine resin, orange and grapefruit peel and a hint of peach. In the first sip of this beer you can feel the citrus and a little sweet touch before ending with a powerful bitterness and dryness, but that is not excessive. Its body is dry, but with a small load of light caramel malt, they were able to give it a sweet touch that is also combined with a bitter finish that gives it that resinous character that we all love on the West Coast.

ABV: 6.4%

INCIVIC BREW

Incivic Brew is so new that no one has had time to do a tasting note on their beers. Their first two batches just came out of the cannery a few days ago and distributors are fighting over them. The "Incivicos" guys have been so busy cooking, and designing the labels for an audience that has been waiting months to get their hands on these beers, that there hasn't been time to write. Being heirs to the Two Tanks project, at Brewtal we opened the doors to these first two Incivic muffins without even being able to taste them! We have a mission for you, and that is to help us write about these beers. Send us your comments on our social networks @bebrewtal
