Brewtal Box #038 / APR 2021 - FREDDO FOX BREWERY
During the summer of 2020, the project Freddo Fox Brewery was born in Barcelona. Its founders Marcus Tybell (co-founder of Brewski in Sweden), Robin Barden, and Elliott Koning acquired the legendary Edge Brewing from Barcelona (of which Robin and Elliot were the Head Brewer and General Manager) to completely overturn the concept: they make a radical change of its brand identity, inspired by street art, with playful and artistic labels and a very urban look, and they begin to produce more experimental and higher quality beers packaged in a 33cl can format, unique for now in the Spanish craft beer scene. Beers loaded with the best hops; sours with fresh fruits; and black beers full of creativity. Since the launch of their first beers in January 2021, they have focused on having a large share of collaborations with well-established international breweries such as Northern Monk (England), Finback Brewery (USA), and Finback Brewery (USA). USA ) and North Brewing Co. (England) Marcus is in charge of the art of Freddo Fox, and he has been inspired by the traits of his dog's breed for the creation of the brand's logo, and by the street art present in the Poble Nou neighborhood, where it is located. the factory, for the illustrations of the labels.
“The idea behind the name is as follows: Freddo, which means cold in several languages, and Fox, an animal known to be very playful, mischievous and a bit annoying but also strong and powerful. This is how we unite something cold and something fun (cold and playful). ”
